A malicious npm package, @gocortexio/npmgremlinbox-malware-code-obfuscation, was published and distributed to the npm registry. The package contains obfuscated malware code designed to compromise systems upon installation.

Any computer with this package installed or running should be considered fully compromised. The malware grants outside entities potential full control of the affected system. All secrets, keys, and credentials stored on compromised machines should be rotated immediately from a different, unaffected computer.

While the package can be removed, there is no guarantee that removal will eliminate all malicious software or backdoors that may have been installed as a result of the initial compromise. Complete system remediation may be necessary.
