An attacker distributed over 900 malicious packages via the Python Package Index (PyPI), including a package named ytorch. These packages were designed to install malicious browser extensions on infected systems.

The malicious extensions perform clipboard manipulation and cryptocurrency wallet address replacement attacks. When users copy cryptocurrency wallet addresses, the malicious extension intercepts and replaces them with attacker-controlled addresses, redirecting cryptocurrency transfers to the attacker.

This incident was identified and documented by the OpenSSF's malicious-packages repository (MAL-2023-2471). The ytorch package was one of the affected packages in this large-scale distribution campaign.
