A large-scale malicious package campaign distributed over 900 compromised packages via PyPI. The yfinancce package (a typosquatting variant of the legitimate yfinance library) was among those affected.\n\nThe malicious packages installed browser extensions that performed clipboard manipulation and cryptocurrency wallet address replacement attacks. This technique targets users who copy and paste wallet addresses, replacing them with attacker-controlled addresses to redirect cryptocurrency transfers.\n\nThe campaign was identified and documented by the OpenSSF's malicious-packages repository. The incident has been resolved through package removal from PyPI and public disclosure.
