- internallib_v756npm package containing malicious code
The npm package internallib_v756 was found to contain malicious code in its main entry point (index.js). Upon require() or import, the package synchronously invokes execSync to spawn an interactive reverse shell via /bin/bash -i with stdio redirected through /dev/tcp/10.0.74.63/4444.\n\nThe shell spawn is top-level code with no conditional gating, meaning it executes immediately when the module is loaded. This grants the operator of the hardcoded remote address (10.0.74.63) interactive command execution on any host that installs and loads the package.\n\nThe malicious package was identified by Amazon Inspector and credited to the OpenSSF's malicious-packages repository, where it is cataloged as MAL-2026-13928. The incident was disclosed on 2026-08-12 via GitHub Security Advisory GHSA-49mj-627r-8grx.
